The Southwest Citizens Coalition is a non-profit, non-partisan education and advocacy organization committed to defending free-market values and the Constitution in New Mexico.
The Southwest Citizens Coalition is the only non-profit organization in New Mexico created to protect our values and to take on the so-called "progressive" movement that is attempting to destroy our free-market values and constitutional freedoms.
In the 2008 election, supporters of free-markets and the Constitution lost several key allies in the New Mexico State Legislature. Six free-market Republicans were defeated in the general election, and three Democrats with pro-business and pro-Second Amendment voting records were defeated in the primary election by anti-business, anti-gun liberals.
Pro-freedom Republican and Democrat legislators were defeated through the efforts of a network of ultra-liberal, progressive non-profit organizations in our state, including the Center for Civic Policy and New Mexico Youth Organized. These non-profits are able to raise unlimited amounts of funds without publicly disclosing their donors.
In the state of Colorado, left-wing non-profit organizations -- like the progressive groups operating right here in New Mexico -- have singlehandedly changed the face of that state's government from free-market to ultra-liberal in just a few short years.
Now, these progressive groups see New Mexico as the next state to fall prey. They're working to destroy the cause of freedom in the Land of Enchantment.
Progressive groups are on track to building a permanent ultra-liberal majority in New Mexico -- unless we unite and take a stand today.
Through a combination of education, advocacy, and grassroots organizing at the local level, the Southwest Citizens Coalition is fighting in support of our shared pro-freedom values here in New Mexico:
- Limited government and lower taxes
- Constitutional freedoms, like protecting our right to keep and bear arms
- Free-market, pro-business values that encourage economic growth
- Standing against dangerous anti-business legislation, like the "Card Check" bill supported by organized labor and the "cap-and-trade" tax supported by radical environmentalists
The Southwest Citizens Coalition is launching a campaign to build a vast network of active citizens throughout New Mexico who want to affect real change and protect our free-market and pro-Constitution values.
